In an energy-based approach to chakras, harmonising means paying attention to the balance between the energy centres. Visualisation, sound and meditation are ways of working with this.
Start with grounding
Sit or stand comfortably and feel your feet in contact with the ground. Take a moment to breathe calmly. You can visualise roots growing from your feet into the earth.
Move through the seven chakras
Bring your attention from the base of your spine to the crown of your head. Pause briefly at each centre and its associated colour: red, orange, yellow, green or pink, blue, indigo, and white or violet. In the overview of the seven chakras you will find their locations and themes.
Choose one theme
Stay with the chakra that appeals to you today. Visualise its colour or work with a sound. This approach uses sounds including LAM, VAM, RAM, YAM, HAM and OM. You can also follow the short exercise in the relevant article.
Finish gently
Bring your attention back to the room and notice how you experienced the exercise. You do not need to explore every theme at once. A gentle start makes it easier to discover which exercise suits you.
