After a busy gathering or a lot of impressions, a mindful moment for yourself can be welcome. Here are five exercises from an energy-work perspective, focusing on grounding, intention and attention. Choose one that appeals to you and notice how you experience it.
1. Grounding: feet on the ground
Place both feet on the ground and breathe calmly. Imagine roots growing from your feet into the earth. In energy work, this image is used to bring attention to grounding and stability.
2. An energy shower
Imagine a shower of light flowing from your head to your feet. Give this image the intention of letting go of what you do not want to carry with you. This is a visualisation; your experience of it is personal.
3. Notice your breath
Take a moment to notice your breathing. Breathe at a comfortable pace, without forcing it. If you prefer to keep your eyes open or look around, do so.
4. An object as an anchor
Choose a stone, ring or bracelet. Associate it with an intention, such as taking a moment to reconnect with yourself. When you hold the object, you can bring your attention back to that intention.
5. A transition after a busy moment
After a gathering or event, take a short walk or a mindful shower. You can visualise leaving behind what you do not want to carry with you. This gives the end of that moment a familiar shape.
These exercises are invitations, not a promise that sensory overload or symptoms will disappear. If difficulties continue to affect your daily life, discuss them with a healthcare professional.
